Description
Introducing the Oakes Performance Solutions in association with Custom Code 2nd generation EA825 4.0T engine ECU and TCU software for multiple Audi, Porsche, Bentley, and Lamborghini models. This is one of the four featured sets of tunes from Oakes Performance Solutions based on the developmental 2019 Audi SQ8 and 2019 Lamborghini Urus.
Performance gains:
Stage 1 ECU tune: 0.3 to 0.7 seconds quicker 0-60 mph times than stock.
0.5 to 0.7 seconds quicker 1/4 mile times with 5-9 more mph trap speed than stock.
Gains of 100 to 250 more horsepower and 200-300 more ft-lbs of torque than stock.
Results will vary depending on octane and ethanol content.
Stage 2 ECU tune: 0.6 to 1 seconds quicker 0-60 mph times than stock.
0.8 to 1.2 seconds quicker 1/4 mile times with 9-13 more mph trap speed than stock.
Gains of 200 to 300 more horsepower and 270-340 more ft-lbs of torque than stock.
Results will vary depending on octane and ethanol content.
Stage 3 ECU tune: custom tune to accommodate custom hardware changes such as bigger turbos. These tunes will require logging to accommodate the changes to the vehicle and will be on a case by case basis.
TCU tune:
Shifts noticeably quicker and smoother.
Removes the factory shift hang ups between gear changes, especially the 1-2 gear shift along with correcting the factory clunky downshifts
Changes the gear shifting points for smooth seamless shifts in Drive and the best acceleration in Sport mode.
Holds lower gears longer during cold start up to warm the engine up more efficiently.
Keeps the transmission fluid cooler for longer transmission life. This Rally Cooling strategies to keep the transmission cooler for long periods of high performance driving were designed specifically for organized Rally Drives like Gold Rush Rally, Gumball 3000 Rally, Savage Rally, etc.
Recalibrates and/or removes the torque limitations for better acceleration.
The ECU tunes for these 2nd generation EA825 4.0T V8 engines come in three stages to accommodate our customer’s needs. The TCU tune is required for the stage 2 and stage 3 ECU tunes because of the increased stresses on the components especially from the increased EGTs/Exhaust Gas Temperatures and to alter or remove the torque limitations for best performance.
At Oakes Performance Solutions we care about getting the power to the pavement so that is why we list the acceleration times first since they are the most important to us. The horsepower and torque numbers are listed after the acceleration differences because there are multiple occasions that can’t be shown on a dyno. We want you to feel the difference immediately after downloading the tunes the first time you drive out of your driveway! The reason that we list a range of acceleration differences and horsepower/torque gains is to accommodate the different engines and chassis used.
For best performance we recommend performing maintenance servicing on these 2nd generation EA825 4.0T engines such as replacing the engine air and fuel filters, replacing worn spark plugs, fixing/replacing any clogged exhaust components such as catalytic converters, and manually cleaning out the carbon buildup from the intake air charge system. On higher mileage 4.0Ts we have seen the charge air coolers (commonly referred to as intercoolers), intake manifolds, and intake valves covered in oily carbon buildup that prevents the full amount of air mass flow into the engine correctly.
A little history on our 2019 Lamborghini Urus shop SUV. It is a very special vehicle that was part of the Savage Garage YouTube Channel for a few years. Originally it was owned by Randy on Savage Garage and you might have seen it driven cross country in the beautiful grey paint over black with orange accents interior. Even though this vehicle was very low mileage it still needed to be properly serviced with new spark plugs and a transmission fluid change prior to tuning due to the hard driving/enjoyment that this vehicle experienced in its prior ownership.
As a case study the 2019 Lamborghini Urus shop SUV had the following acceleration time differences according to Dragy testing on 93 octane pump gas.
Stock:
3.48 seconds 0-60 mph time with a 11.50 seconds 1/4 mile time at 120.04 mph.
After downloading the stage 1 ECU tune it ran:
3.14 seconds 0-60 mph time with a 11.02 seconds 1/4 mile time at 126.28 mph.
Followed by after downloading the stage 2 ECU tune and TCU tune it ran:
2.81 seconds 0-60 mph time with a 10.69 seconds 1/4 mile time at 131.43 mph.
These tunes fit the following 2nd generation EA825 4.0T vehicles in the USA:
Audi: SQ7, RSQ7, SQ8, RSQ8, A8/A8L, S8, RS6, RS6 Performance, RS7, and RS7 Performance
Porsche: Cayenne and all the different versions of the Panamera
Bentley: Continental GT V8, Flying Spur, Bentayga
Lamborghini: Urus
The ECU and TCU tunes are downloaded by you through our online Custom Code server that requires renting or purchasing one of our tuning cables. It costs $20 to rent a tuning cable after all the steps of the rental program are completed or $150 to purchase a tuning cable. The tuning cable rental program consists of a $150 core deposit plus shipping costs initially. Then after the tuning cable is shipped back in good condition within seven business days from initially arriving then $130 of the core deposit will be refunded. If there are any issues with downloading the tunes caused by Oakes Performance Solutions or Custom Code like a server update or file revision then that time delay will not be held against the customer.
